📰 Gross pumpkin pickup
Issue 2

Weather: Today is partly sunny with a high of 73 and rain-free. 🌤️
Welcome back! In AER you'll find links to stories and things to do to be a better and more informed Summit County citizen.
We also want to share ways to help your neighbors and get help if you need it. So if you're an organization offering food or services, or you're seeking donations or volunteers, please let me know. My email address and cell are at the bottom of every email.
Each of these emails should take about three minutes to check each day. We publish at 6 a.m. weekdays.
OK, here we go!
1. Do you have pumpkins rotting on your lawn?

Rubber City Reuse
Rubber City Reuse will pick them up for you anywhere in Summit County during the month of November. Just call them at 330-466-1028.
2. Akron METRO RTA will give you a free lift to the polls
"For Election Day, which is Tuesday, Nov. 8, we offer those free rides to anyone in our service area on our fixed route as well as on our demand response, our schedule ahead service."
3. Your kid can win prizes for reading
The Akron-Summit County Public library is giving away prizes to kids who read a certain number of books. This kid named Ivan already won the top prize for reading 1,000 books. Good job, little man.
4. Not only are ER wait times ridiculous, the hospitals won't disclose the stats
Cover hospitals in Northeast Ohio long enough, and you learn that hospitals are basically a black box. Our lives are literally in their hands, but there's very little transparency or accountability: "Some hospitals right now are dealing with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). That's a respiratory illness that's similar to a cold and it can lead in some cases to serious illnesses like pneumonia. And there also just happens to be a lot of patients in hospitals right now."
5. Eat your way from Peru to Nepal to Jamaica
I have no idea what this is, but it should be supported. If you go, tell me about it.
